How does the BIC support implementing
the KFE management plan?

The planning process of participatory elaborating a sophisticated forest management plan based on thorough scientific information started in 2007. With the BIC having come into existence in 2008, BIC accompanied this planning process for the Kakamega Forest Ecosystem Management Plan, 2012-2022 over the past years and is therefore considered well suited to serve all stakeholders in the implementation of the plan as well as in any succeeding activities.

The BIC provides suitable avenues that different stakeholders can use to integrate their varying approaches in management of the Kakamega Forest Ecosystem. Provision of geoservices that help in monitoring flora, fauna and human activities in the ecosystem, as well as the availability of the centre's other facilities for decision making and information dissemination are some of the ways that the BIC will actively be involved in implementing the management plan.
