Multiple stakeholders shared their views and
contributed input to a new project proposal
On the 6th of June 2012 the BIC served as venue to discuss a potential project building on BIOTA and other research activities in the area but focussing on networking, information dissemination and capacity enhancement. The workshop had been initiated by Prof. Gertrud Schaab who had been successful in acquiring funds from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for a series of workshops in Uganda and Kenya. The workshop at the BIC was visited by 17 participants from 11 different stakeholder institutions. After an overview on possible actions to include in such a project, a very lively discussion started targeting the challenges, potentials and benefits. In particular the point of how best to involve the private sector in a cross-sectoral project consortium lead to extensive discussion.
