KEFRI launches its Kakamega Sub-Centre
with BIC as one of its stakeholders

The Kenya Forest Research Institute (KEFRI) launched the Kakamega Forestry Research Sub-Centre on 9th September 2011. On this occasion, KEFRI took a unique approach by inviting its partners/stakeholders in exhibiting on their roles in conserving Kakamega Forest. Visitors of the BIC's booth got information on the role of BIC, its activities and the products available at the centre. Most of the visitors were surprised to discover that a centre with such useful information was so close to the forest. Most of them promised to later pay a visit to BIC so that they could access some of the available products.

The Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, the KEFRI Director, KWS and KFS officials and other dignitaries present at the event also passed by the booth. The KEFRI Director, impressed with BIC, expressed his keenness in partnering with BIC in disseminating information on Kakamega Forest and also using some of its products.
