Being present at a local international conference
focussing on the protection of Kakamega Forest

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) hosted the International Conference on Tropical Forest Resources, subtitled 'Forest Biodiversity, Conservation and Climate Change' in Kakamega from 6th to 9th of June 2011.

The Biodiversity Information Centre (BIC) took the chance of making itself more widely known via a booth. Many conference participants paid the BIC staff present a visit to learn about its activities, to buy information material on the Kakamega Forest close by, or to discuss modes of cooperations. With the centre's major aims of disseminating information on the Kakamega Forest Ecosystem and of promoting communications between all stakeholders, it proofed to be important to be present on a conference which in particular pointed out the need of conserving and protecting Kakamega Forest in the longterm.
