Inofficially launching the BIC
as its major project exit strategy

From 15th to 18th of March 2010 the BIOTA East Africa Concluding Conference took place in Nairobi and Kakamega. After in-depth sessions introducing main BIOTA results to a wide range of local stakeholders as well as a concluding discussion on personal opinions on the benefits and shortcomes including the crucial topic of cooperation, there was also the chance of visiting Kakamega Forest. On the way to the forest all participants were brought to the BIC in order to get to known its final set-up. As many of them had supported its coming into existence, the BIOTA-East community celebrated the event with an outside buffet.

People were not only proud of what has been achieved but expressed their hope for the BIC's long-term life, its further growing and impact for the benefit of the forest and its people.
